New approaches to finding and recruiting diverse data talent

Last month, our Innovation Lab collaborated with one of our data engineering teams to conduct a research project which discovers the most effective ways to find and recruit diverse data talent.

The team uncovered five key findings and created a tool which allows organisations to benchmark their workforce against UK diversity metrics. We will be posting the detailed findings from the study on our website over the next six weeks.

As technology develops around self-driving vehicles I find myself hearing more often people questioning whether they are a good idea. Comments range from “surely they cannot perform as well as a human driver” or “I would rather be driven by a person than a software, I just cant trust it”.

Why are Bots Named after Females?

With Amazon and Microsoft opting for the female characters of Alexa and Cortana to respectively represent their bots, alongside the feminine voices of Apple’s Siri and Google’s Assistant, we see a theme occurring in the industry when assigning a gender to virtual assistant bots. Why is it that when designing this AI, we are seeing so many bots introduced to the market under female names?
