Rob Lee

In 2015, I graduated from the University of Nottingham with a 1st class degree in History. After graduating I joined WaveMetrix, a social media insight company, where I was responsible for managing market research projects for high profile corporations, overseeing the data collection process, forming insights from the data and moulding them into detailed reports for clients. Using Pivot Tables in Excel I utilised data scraped from social media to produce sentiment analysis reports and R scripts to automate aspects of the analysis. After collecting data from 100 TV channels’ Facebook and Twitter pages for over 3 months, I presented my work at a client’s International Summit in front of 75 people which was very rewarding.

A year later I moved on to work for Chelmsford City Council as Project and Performance Officer at the Chelmsford Museum. There, I was responsible for various projects, including the completion of the museum’s successful bid for Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) funding as part of a £2million refurbishment project, as well as wider performance monitoring and reporting. Having spent over a year working at Chelmsford museum, I saw that capturing and analysing visitor data was vital for improving customer experience as well as business revenue. As internal opportunities using data were limited, I decided to move into a more technical role.

GDPR: Who Will the Winners Be?

While not in place yet, the legislation has already rocked the business world, and it is likely that most businesses will not be fully compliant by May, when it will come into force.
