The challenge

  • The R&D team from a world-leading consumer goods conglomerate needed meticulous assessment of their products' lifecycles, in order to effectively measure the carbon footprint of their vast raw materials. Struggling to match product lifecycle inventory data with the product formula cards, partly due to siloed data sets, they were unable to optimize the information to reduce environmental impact.
  • They engaged Kubrick to conduct a proof of concept to demonstrate that their data could be utilized and analyzed. This would allow their product development teams to measure and assess the impact of changes on the carbon footprint over a product’s lifecycle.​

The solution

  • Kubrick’s team worked closely with the product owner and the internal team to handle all aspects of project delivery, including requirements gathering, data engineering, product build, and user testing.​
  • The squad created an interactive visualization product which allowed the R&D team to model different product formulas and measure their carbon footprint, analyzing their raw materials and measuring throughout the product lifecycle. For ease of adoption and longevity, the team created user guides, demonstration videos, and logs to record and amend any potential data quality issues.
