Kubrick hosted a high-impact one-day boot camp at our London office in partnership with Databricks.
To help charities and non-profits keep up with the changing pace of technology, Kubrick and Databricks partnered to provide organizations coaching on the fundamentals of the Databricks platform to help transform their ways of working.
Over the course of the day, attendees were introduced to a range of approaches through a blend of talks, demonstrations, and interactive break-out sessions, including Data Lakehousing and Data Warehousing, which help organizations manage and utilize their data. They were also given a hands-on lab session in SQL and Databricks, navigating the workspace and performing exercises to enhance their understanding.
Marie Curie, a charity known for its work in providing care and support to people living with terminal illnesses, have been exploring the potential in leveraging Databricks for data management and analysis. Neil Venables, Head of Data Engineering at Marie Curie, shared his thoughts on the workshop:
“We are refreshing our platform and want to refresh all our data products. It is becoming increasingly obvious to us that to do that we need to separate computer from storage. Today has been great as it has enabled us to meet Databricks and Kubrick and see how they can support us on our data journey. Events such as these are also brilliant as when you hear about new technologies through white papers and YouTube videos, it all feels abstract and can be scary but putting it into practice helps remove that uncertainty and doubt and shows how such tools can be used to really drive change.”
Pritesh Patel, Public Sector Leader at Databricks, reflected on the event and the opportunity at hand. “We’re excited to do more work with not-for-profit organizations to help increase their impact on society, and we want to help them make a difference”, Patel said. “Through our products and services, we can modernize their ways of working and give them vital access to a wealth of untapped data, enabling them to be more insights-driven and save both time and money. We’re grateful to Kubrick for hosting this session and look forward to working with them on a range of philanthropic initiatives in the coming months and years.”
