Kubrick Voices: Celebrating Pride Month 2022

In our latest episode of Kubrick Voices, host Camilla Dickson (She/Her) speaks to Joseph Woodman (He/Him), Fabien Littel (He/Him), and Han Booth (They/Them) about their experiences as members of the LGBTQ+ community during Pride month and beyond.

Together, Joe, Fabien, and Han reflect on the importance of Pride and where it originally derived from, plus the journey we’ve taken as a society to improve rights for the LGBTQ+ community. They also discuss the steps they themselves are taking to celebrate and recognize Pride both during the month of June and beyond, and the inspirational ways in which people outside of the LGBTQ+ community have acted as true Allies. Additionally, they look at the work organizations are doing to ensure individuals feel supported and encouraged to bring their true selves to work, and the steps Kubrick has taken in recent years to drive equality through initiatives such a Diversity Champions which focus on driving positive change.

As well as reflecting on the positives, they also discuss the journey that still needs to be taken to overcome ongoing challenges members of the LGBTQ+ community face, such as the challenges surrounding biases and stigma.

The topic of identity is also explored by Han, a queer non-binary person. They consider the evolution of language and understanding about gender fluidity and shifting identities throughout generations, and the movement towards a more open-minded an accepting society that they have witnessed.
